Formal Curriculum

The English department actively modifies, adapts, and revises their curriculum materials to meet the needs of individual classes. Thus, in order to keep pace with the Education Reforms and development of students' generic skills, such as critical thinking and self-management, concepts like project-based learning and task-based learning have been fully adopted and utilized to promote an active, authentic learning environment. Moreover, NSS components such as language arts, poems, dramas have been introduced to the junior form students so as to prepare them for their future studies. In addition, the elements of TSA have also been integrated into our teaching curriculum to prepare students for the senior secondary school syllabus.

On the other hand, in order to improve students' English proficiency in the long run and to encourage good reading habits, regular "library reading" lessons have been prescribed to our teaching curriculum. Students will have two library lessons each week. Thus, a wide selection of novels and storybooks are available for students in the library. The books are divided into different lengths and levels of difficulty in order to cater for students with different learning needs and abilities!
